  • Announcement: 18th International Congress of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry (ICHC 2029)

The International Federation of Societies for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry (IFSHC) is pleased to announce that the 18th International Congress of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry (ICHC 2029) will be organized by the Chinese Society for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry (CSHC).

The congress will take place in Wuhan, China, with the exact dates to be determined.

This prestigious event will be supported by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and sponsored by the Chinese Society for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry (CSHC) and the Chinese Society for Anatomical Sciences (CSAS).

The organization of the congress will be coordinated by Professor He Li, representing the CSHC.

We look forward to welcoming researchers from around the world to exchange the latest advances and ideas in histochemistry, cytochemistry and imaging at ICHC 2029.

Further details, including dates, program information, and registration instructions, will be announced in due course as preparations progress.

  • Newly Elected Executive Committee for 2025 – 2029 and Current Committee

The International Federation of Societies for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry (IFSHC) is pleased to announce the results of the election for the Executive Committee for the 2025–2029 term. The vote took place during the Second Delegates Meeting held in Rimini, Italy, within the framework of the 17th International Congress of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry (ICHC 2025).

The election was conducted by the voting delegates and members of the IFSHC Board. An amendment to the Federation Statutes was approved to include the Past-President as a member of the Executive Committee.

The new Executive Committee will take office upon completion of the Federation’s legalization process in the following organization:

    • President – Prof. Roberta Di Pietro, Italian Society for Histochemistry
    • Past-president – Prof. Pavel Hozák, Society for Histochemistry
    • Secretary-General – Prof. Steven West, Royal Microscopical Society
    • Treasurer – Prof. Melek Ozturk, Turkish Society for Electron Microscopy
    • Councilor – Prof. He Li, Chinese Society for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry
    • Councilor – Prof. Liliana Schaefer, The Histochemical Society

The current Executive Committee will continue to serve until the completion of the transition process:

    • President: Prof. Pavel Hozák, Society for Histochemistry
    • Secretary-General: Prof. Toyoshi Fujimoto, Japan Society for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry
    • Treasurer: Prof. Roberta Di Pietro, Italian Society for Histochemistry
    • Councilor: Prof. Liliana Schaefer, The Histochemical Society
    • Councilor: Prof. Margarida Barroso, The Histochemical Society

  • Paul Nakane & David Glick Prize Awarded to Professors Pavel Hozák and Christoph Cremer

We are pleased to announce the recipients of two prestigious awards in the field of histochemistry and cytochemistry: the Paul Nakane Prize and the David Glick Lecture Award.

Both awards will be presented at the upcoming International Congress of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry (ICHC 2025), to be held in Rimini, Italy, from August 27–30, 2025. Both recipients will be invited to deliver a plenary lecture at the congress.

Professor Pavel Hozák (Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic) has been selected as the recipient of the Paul Nakane Prize in Histochemistry and Cytochemistry. This prize serves as a lifetime achievement award, honoring an individual who has demonstrated outstanding international leadership in advancing the fields of histochemistry and cytochemistry. The award includes a plaque and a $1,500 honorarium.

Professor Christoph Cremer (University of Mainz and University of Heidelberg, Germany) will receive the David Glick Lecture Award. Established in 1982 by an anonymous donation, this award honors the memory and contributions of David Glick, particularly his pioneering work in quantitative histochemical methods. It is presented at each International Congress of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry (ICHC) to a distinguished histochemist or cytochemist. The award includes a $1,000 honorarium, up to $2,000 in travel support, and a commemorative scroll or certificate.

Please join us in congratulating Professors Hozák and Cremer for their outstanding achievements and lasting contributions to the field.
